Some time ago I received the following  email from a Muslim friend:
“You say that God’s hands are tied by his own laws. You write, ‘God can do anything except deny himself and ignore his own laws.’ Why should our Creator impose such a constraint on his mercy? Even if he made such a law, he could break it straightaway since he is all-powerful! He can choose to forgive sin without punishing it. He can forgive just like that.”
